Five people, including a seven-year-old girl, died whiletrying to cross the English Channel in the early hoursof Tuesday, French officials have said.
Authorities said the victims were trying to get to theUK on an overloaded boat carrying 112 migrants.
Several search-and-rescue operations are under way to find survivors.
