Georgia Crime Crimewave Back the Blue Marcus Butts

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation obtained warrants for a suspect in connection to the April 9 double-homicide of a mother and teen daughter in Smithville Georgia.
On April 9th, agents obtained arrest warrants for Marcus Dontavious Butts, 28, of Preston, Georgia. He is being charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, home invasion, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection to the double homicide of Jessica Hatcher Thompson and her daughter, Julianna Thompson. His rap sheet includes multiple parole violations as he was sentenced to 10 years in jail in 2021 by Judge Jimmie Brown of Sumter County, GA but was released after only 16 months. Butts is being held in the Lee County Jail.
