German police have arrested a parliamentary aide to the head of the list of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the European elections on suspicion of spying for China, the federal prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. He was suspended by the European Parliament.

The announcement comes the day after German authorities arrested three nationals, also accused of spying for China, and the indictment of two men in London on similar suspicions.
