He gets pretty confused when it suddenly disappears or he can't see where it is.
Then he finds it again and "almost" catches it! But nothing happens and the light is able to escape again. It's so cute! And he won't give up on "the hunt".

These little lights moving sound like so much fun for kitties. Changing direction and speed, it's like the light is alive! Cats actually see it as a sign of life.

It's adorable. However, cats get frustrated when they can't catch or actually feel the light. They do a great job of stalking and hunting the prey, but in this case, they NEVER really catch it!

This is not how it happens in nature and the fact that the cats start bouncing off the walls they can get exhausted and even more frustrated.

That's why laser pointers are actually a bad idea. Although very amusing for humans to watch the cat playing with lights, it's not a healthy way of exercising.
It has to be satisfying, and in this case, it's not.

Also, laser lights can accidentally get in the cat's eyes and hurt them. It's not safe because it's hard to control the light's direction.

So, next time you see a cat playing with lights, think about how would you feel about doing a great job and never getting the rewards!
