Never has a generation been so completely taken over by a totalitarian state as was the case in Hitler's Third Reich. At the age of 10 children joined the Jungvolk movement, at 14 they joined the Hitler Youth, and at 18 they joined the party, the Wehrmacht, the SA or the SS.

Child Soldiers Last Stand
Emerging in the 1920’s, the youth movement of the Nazi party served Hitler fanatically. By 1943, Nazi leaders began turning the Hitler Youth into a military reserve to replace manpower which had been depleted due to tremendous military losses. In the Waffen-SS division Hitlerjugend, these young soldiers were prepared to face the allies at Normandy. Looking back many years later, they reflect on the consequences of their involvement with an organisation that, by December 1936, membership in was mandatory for all German youth.
