SUV Fails to Yield to 18 Wheeler, 1 Person Flown, LIVINGSTON, April 22, 2024 - At approximately 6:20 pm on April 22, 2024, an 18 wheeler driven by Kenneth Holland, 42, was traveling south-bound pulling through the intersection of North Washington (Business 59) and North Houston (146 by Giavannis). At that moment, a south-bound maroon GMC Yukon, driven by Lesli Bennett, 43, of Leggett, attempted a left turn onto North Washington but failed to yield. The GMC and the 18 wheeler collided. The impact knocked Bennett backwards and onto the shoulder while Holland's vehicle came to rest right there. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Officers with the Livingston Police Department. Bennett was entrapped. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut her door off. Bennett was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown from the scene. Holland was physically okay. Bennett is facing a citation in the accident. Both vehicles were recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston.
