Marjorie Taylor Greene calls on Johnson to resign after foreign aid bills pass

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her dissatisfaction with House Speaker Mike Johnson on Sunday, accusing him of betraying Republican voters by supporting new aid to Ukraine.Show more

Greene called for Johnson’s resignation, threatening to initiate a vote to remove him from the speakership if he refuses to step down.

Despite Johnson’s collaboration with Democrats to advance a $95 billion foreign aid package, Greene and at least two other Republicans have vowed to support his ouster.

Johnson, however, remains confident, believing he can rely on Democratic support to thwart any motion against him.

Democrats like Rep. Ro Khanna have indicated they would oppose removing Johnson, emphasizing that political decisions should not always be transactional, CNN reported.
