Crossing an Insane Ice Fishing Pressure Crack

Winter fishing big water brings enough challenges on their own. On this day, we ventured a couple of miles offshore and crossed over what seemed to be an unassuming crack. Boy, did mother nature throw us a major curve ball. This particular lake has swallowed many anglers before me to never return them alive.

We fished all morning and by noon, the fish I was marking were finally taking to my bait. I took a couple of really nice white fish and by late afternoon it was time to head back.

We packed up and headed to shore, it was here - the unassuming crack in the morning turned to be one of the worst crossing I've had to make to date. Not only did the crack open up, but the side we were on, sunk into the lake!
