Soul Sisters: How It All Began | Trish Reiss, Certified Firearms Instructor, Founder Montana Maggies

Living in upstate New York, Trish found a desperate need for education in firearms training after working as a pistol licensing clerk in her hometown.

She got involved locally and eventually created the first ever Women’s Concealed Carry Holster Fashion Show held in 2012 and 2014. In its second year, it drew media attention and over 400 spectators. Video here: https://youtu.be/ERtaVfimm9o?si=5ORy1eR1ki8j2M_V

After moving to Montana in 2016, she brought that same drive and heart to her work on the range, where she felt a specific calling to help people who she felt had “fallen through the cracks” in classes and need more patience and/or time to learn. She felt like “that girl” early in her training in New York and went on a mission to make sure no one gets left behind on her watch.

During that time is when Lora and Trish paths crossed. The story unfolds in the interview and a great friendship blossomed and grew over the years.

In this interview we talk about that story as well as working with special need clients, how Trish overcame adversity and what she does now to continue, in her 60s, to stay physically and mentally healthy. We’ll also learn about the development of a select group of women in southwest Montana, the Montana Maggies, why that group is so dear to us and how/why it was formed.

Trish has over 800 certificate hours of training from Sig Academy, Gunsite Academy, Gabby Franco, Kate Miculek, Adam Winch, Mike Seeklander, Dave Jenkins, Scott Jedlinski, Masad Ayoob, Andrew Branch and many others. She has multiple instructor certifications as well. She is also the Chapter Leader of the Armed Women of America in her area and the Founder of Montana Maggies.
