WE ARE ON THE BRINK OF TOTAL WAR: THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW

The last two weeks have rightly seen our newsfeeds dominated by the unfolding narrative in Israel and the potential escalation of an already volatile situation. More innocent lives are being lost and this looks unfortunately like it may only be the beginning of a war that could get much bigger and bloodier.

To get to the heart of the matter, I’m delighted to be welcoming back a guest who is an expert in every sense of the word and has long since warned us of the negative impact an ongoing war in Ukraine will have and believes the prospect of supporting an additional conflict in the Middle East could have catastrophic consequences.

Colonel Douglas Macgregor is a decorated combat veteran, retired US Army Colonel, author and foreign policy expert who is widely recognised for his leadership in the Battle of 73 Easting during the Gulf War – the US Army’s largest tank battle since World War II.

His distinguished career began in 1976 when he was commissioned into the Regular Army after completing his studies at the Virginia Military Institute and West Point.

During his 28 years of service, he held numerous leadership positions and taught in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, while his innovative ideas on military transformation and force design have had a profound impact on the global stage, influencing policies in Israel, Russia, and China.

As an author, his groundbreaking ideas have resulted in five books, including Breaking The Phalanx and Transformation Under Fire, and seen him feature as a regular commentator on defence and foreign policy issues on various media platforms including CNN, the BBC, Sky and Fox News, most notably as the go-to guy on Tucker Carlson’s now-defunct show.

In late 2020, Colonel Macgregor was appointed Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defence by then-President Donald Trump, a position he held until the end of the Trump administration, while he has also served as an expert witness before the Senate and House Armed Services Committees.

Colonel Macgregor believes that the Biden administration and those in Washington underestimated Russian resolve and military power in Ukraine and they must not repeat this same mistake by underestimating the potential for a regional Muslim alliance that could threaten Israel’s existence.

He also suggests that if Gaza is subjected to the kind of punishment that Benjamin Netanyahu has in mind, the Egyptians are going to struggle to stay out of it and if they get involved “you’re gonna see everyone pile on.” While any war with Iran would very likely lead to World War III with Russia joining the campaign.

“Avoiding Armageddon at this point is going to be very difficult.”

Colonel Macgregor explains that the US does not have the forces or the means to solve this issue, and moreover there are undoubtedly issues on the homefront that need addressing urgently. Most notably the open border policy that he believes is leading to the disintegration of the United States.

“Why is nothing being done? These people are coming in and we can’t assimilate them, we can’t employ them! Our economy is weaker than perhaps it’s been in decades – we’re looking at a guaranteed deep recession as a minimum. Why are we doing these things? I think we all know the answer – to dilute the basic core population of Americans and to create a new base for the left.”
