That awful place was known as the Uman Pit or as the transit camp Stalag-349. It was located not far away from the Ukrainian city of Uman. All the people confined in it had to live in the open, and it was during the hottest summer months. In a few hours, your skin would have been completely burned, and I’m not even talking about the hundreds, if not thousands, of lice that were basically slowly eating you alive... This story is truly disturbing.
