17th In our series the Prophet Micah
I. The Failure of Civil Government - Micah 3:1-4

A. They turned from God’s standard of justice
B. They brutally destroyed the lives, liberties and properties of those whom they were charged with protecting
1. Treated them like cattle, abused slaughtered & consumed
2. God will judge them with true justice

II. The Failure of the Pulpits of Micah’s day - Micah 3:5-7

A. They mislead the people of God - 48 Levitical cities
1. False teaching about what to believe - Theology
2. False examples of how to worship - Idolatry
3. False moral instruction - Ethics
a. Rejecting God’s Standards of right and wrong
b. They pervert justice and righteousness
B. They are not shepherds of the flock, they fleece the people
1. They teach for their own personal profit
2. Their message depends on what people give them
C. God judges them by excluding them from hearing any message from Him - anything they proclaim is false prophecy
III. How Shall We protect ourselves from the false prophets of our day?

A. Christ followers are called to test the spirits - 1 John 4:1-3
!. What do they say regarding the Full Deity and Full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ?
2. Examine the life of the teacher - do they walk their talk
B. We are to subject all truth claims to the acid test of the Word of God - Romans 12:1-2
1. A prior commitment to obey is requisite for the transformation of mind
2. Our minds need the transforming power of God’s Word
