Gentle Dog Helps Owner By Acting As Baby Opossum's Guardian

Animals share those exact emotions. While some run away from tiny creatures, like baby humans or baby animals, others watch over them tentatively, sniffing and kissing them gently, making sure no harm comes to them. Like this sweet old dog did with a very tiny baby opossum.

Bear is being such a good boy with the newborn animal. His owner in Woodstock, Georgia, volunteered to foster the newborn critter for a while and Bear was more than happy to join in on the chores. The feeling of love was mutual, as the tiny opossum loves Bear’s fur. It is pretty obvious, isn’t it?

The sweet dog is so scared that he might wreck the baby, that he sits dead still, barely blinking, one foot up in the air, while the baby opossum climbs up his leg. The baby is pretty young, just a few days old here, but with the smell of an animal around him, it probably thinks that bear is his mama. Their instinct is to climb on mama’s back, while she goes out foraging for food.
