As a FLGS I need to weigh not just things like the art or the intention of a piece as from what I've seen Daggerheart has gorgeous art and is made by well-meaning people. The rules in the tone they're written are flexible, but described in a way that makes this seem like a child is being talked to and supports my theory that this is for a younger audience. With low stakes and many options for do-overs or non-finality, the stakes are low and that makes this a very good, cartoony system. Or like you're playing a shiny action-adventure video game. Not bad in and of themselves, but it seems like a 10+ age-rating and a game good for short-term romps. Beer-and-pretzels and very introductory. These are said very neutrally as games like this ABSOLUTELY have a place in peoples' collections and on shelves. In an age of D&D burnout and successful titles like Mork Borg doing well but in a different direction, perhaps this can shine in a Young Adult/golden-horizon/modern-sensibilities niche?

I haven't seen the prior builds and wanted to go over this newcomer to the RPG scene. With an open mind and desire to learn, let's read the free-to-download material together and discuss it.
