During the April 9, 2024 meeting, Kara Floyd, Chair of the Hernando County Chapter of Moms for Liberty, passionately addressed the Hernando County School District. She brought attention to the graphic nature of the pornographic novel "Life Is Funny," discovered at Challenger K-8. Despite being recommended by the Superintendent's own review committee to remain accessible to children as young as 12, Floyd's reading of excerpts from the book underscored the alarming lack of concern for the well-being of Hernando County public school students.

The culmination of Floyd's powerful address coincided with a significant event: the resignation of the Superintendent. This momentous development underscores the urgency for immediate action to address the systemic issues within the district
