Minoru Yamasaki & Osama Bin Laden (The World Trade Center Towers From Rise To Fall)
Minoru Yamasaki was an American architect, best known for designing the original World Trade Center in New York City. Many of his buildings feature superficial details inspired by the pointed arches of Gothic architecture, and make use of extremely narrow vertical windows. This narrow-windowed style arose from his own personal fear of heights. Yamasaki was granted a contract to design the King Fahd Dhahran Air Terminal in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. By 1961 the project ended and gave Yamasaki a notable reputation within the Saudi Kingdom. In 1971 Yamasaki would design a structure which would be in the honor of the Saudi Kingdom. The design was called the Sphere, it was to mimic the Grand Mosque of Mecca, Masjid al-Haram, in which The Sphere stood at the place of the Kaaba. After the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 on the World Trade Center towers and their collapse, the only structure which was able to be recovered was Yamasaki's Sphere.
