0:00 Ukraine says 17 killed in Russian missile attack on Chernihiv
- Ukrainian president Zelenskyy said lives could have been saved if Kyiv had received sufficient Western military aid ahead of a Russian airstrike that killed at least 17 people in the northern Ukraine. More than 60 people, were injured in the attack, which hit an eight-storey building in a densely populated area, the city's mayor said. The attack came hours after reports of a Ukrainian strike on a Russian military airfield in occupied Crimea.

⁃ Highways and malls have been flooded, schools have been closed, and flights disrupted at one of the world’s busiest airports after the United Arab Emirates experienced what the government described as its largest amount of rainfall in 75 years. At least one person was killed, a 70-year-old man who police said was swept away in his car in one of the UAE’s seven emirates. Footage from Dubai international airport showed passenger jets moving through deep water, spraying water in their wake, while photos captured city streets turned to rivers, with cars sitting abandoned in flood waters.

- The United Nations appealed for 2.8 billion dollars to provide desperately needed aid to 3 million Palestinians, stressing that tackling looming famine in war-torn Gaza requires not only food but sanitation, water and health facilities. Andrea De Domenico, the head of the U.N. humanitarian office for Gaza and the West Bank, told reporters that “massive operations” are required to restore those services and meet minimum standards — and this can’t be done during military operations.
