First ep .. Thursday on Wednesday. Tomorrow* now because you’re over today
*Not necessarily news. But news to me.

If you know me you know I'm going to find it hard to freestyle. But dammit I'm gonna try.

In this first ep I'm going to try my best to give you a brief intro to the biggest case we've seen in Aus in recent years, Bruce Lehrmann V Network Ten. The landmark ruling from the Australian Federal Court was handed down on Monday and it did not go well for Brucey. He has been found civilly liable for the rape of Brittany Higgins when they were both staffers in our Parliament House in Canberra in 2019. He sued a large broadcaster, Ten, for defamation as they gave Higgins a national platform to make these allegations, and a long public saga ensued. Lehrmann was never found guilty in a criminal court due to a mistrial caused by juror misconduct. The case was aborted and was never retried. Now, Justice Lee's decision in this civil case has been hailed a de-facto criminal justice win. To be clear, it is not. But do the Australian public understand the difference between the civil and criminal standard of proof? The comments section says no. And the news headlines are now free to publish the words 'Lehrmann is a rapist'.

In other news, thanks to Fycaroo for bringing and Aussie Chille-wannabe to me attention. We will have our first look at at dude from Victoria who doesn't seem to understand we don't have a first amendment here. His videos are worth a chuckle.

Also people have been asking about the two nasty violent stabbings here this week. We can look at those briefly if we have time. Yes we have some violence here sometimes.

In US cases, Kevin Franke has gone ahead and filed suit against Jodi Hildebrandt .... now isn't that convenient. I haven't checked this out but something tells me this is a tactical move to wipe his hands of culpability. Help me out here.

And our good mate Scott Peterson is firing up the chat again just by turning up to court with his ponytail in tact. Its a plain old motion to seal from the LA Innocence Project but the state argued it down. If we have time we can watch it. But it sure did bring out the guilty guilty guilty crowd. Science will tell the story ...

I'm expecting to boomer this one guys so come along and give me a break if I mess up! Hopefully this won't be a huge mess 😬
