In the land down under, where the gum trees sway,
Merlino returned, to Victoria's fray.
"What's new?" he asked, with a quizzical glance,
"Come, take a tour," said Dan, seizing the chance.

First stop on the journey, a grand old train station,
Now marks the spot for drug mitigation.
"Here's our new site, it's the perfect room,
To fight the addiction, the pain, and the gloom."

Next, they stroll by the Quarantini door,
Where breaches had spread, a point they can't ignore.
"Our quarantine's leaked," Dan admits with a frown,
"Yet we stand tall and firm, won't let it bring us down."

The sign ahead loomed, both open and closed,
"Fourth lockdown," it declared, the path they'd opposed.
The state once buzzing, now silent as night,
A move to keep safe, but at what cost, what plight?

A pile of cash next, taxes lifted high,
The state's coffers swell, the people sigh.
"In budget we trust, to raise what we must,
For the greater good," they say, "in this you can trust."

MPs grin wide, with a pay rise in hand,
Their wallets grow fat, at taxpayers' demand.
"Fair's fair," they chime, "we've worked without rest,
Deserving each penny, it's for the best."

Last stop, a scene, a high five in delight,
Merlino exclaims, "It's been quite the fight!
A gold standard job!" he praises the feat,
While Dan smiles slyly, "Our work's not yet complete."

Through trials and policies, decisions made bold,
The tale of Victoria, in satire, is told.
In the world of cartoons, where jesters may reign,
A poem emerges, to echo the refrain.
