Psalm 23, including verse 4, is traditionally attributed to King David, who is believed to have composed many of the Psalms found in the Book of Psalms. David, known for his role as a shepherd before becoming king, often used imagery related to shepherding in his writings to convey his relationship with God. While the exact authorship of each Psalm is uncertain, tradition and historical accounts attribute many of them, including Psalm 23, to King David.
