The Australian Bureau of Meteorology announced on Tuesday that it appeared El Niño was over after the weather system brought warmer and drier temperatures to several parts of the world.
As Canada heads into spring, the question now is what weather might be seen?
At least one atmospheric physicist says this lull could mean more localized weather such as thunderstorms.
And as Sean Previl reports, the lingering effects of El Niño and the potential approach of a cooler La Niña could lead to more wildfires and a possibly severe hurricane season.
