The photovoltaic effect history is briefly discussed here. These include solar coolers, non-electric refrigerators, and electric non-moving-parts heaters and air coolers. These technologies are based on solar concentrators, thermocouple and thermo-electric effects. These concepts and technologies may allow the curious and ingenious to generate heat, cold, and electricity using heat energy from the sun.
