Why Protect imprisoned Bobrisky?

Why protect a person that does not know his gender? He claimed to be a woman he should be in a woman's jail and not a man's jail now putting him/she or it in the in men's jail is and protecting him from sexual predectors is confusing to me. He accepted to be a man in the court, how can a man have a full adult woman's breat? Now, you are protecting him from men I don't understand the irony...
