It says alot about our fading Republic when Congress has to hold a hearing where Journalists Testify on Protecting their First Amendment Sources. In the words of seasoned Award winning journalist Catherine Herridge.

“When the network of Walter Cronkite seizes your reporting files, including confidential source information, that is an attack on investigative journalism,” said Catherine Herridge, former FOX and CBS News journalist who is currently being held by a federal judge in civil contempt for not divulging sources.

She continued to say, “I can only speak for myself. When my records were seized, I felt it was a journalistic rape.” Her remarks came as she, along with other journalists and advocates, testified before a House Judiciary subcommittee on the importance of the Constitution, a free press, and protecting their sources. During the hearing, Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) criticized retribution against journalists who were critical of the government and said, “That’s what journalism is about-being critical of the government when the government is doing things wrong.”

But failing upwards is the way this CIA institutionalized and government funded mockingbird media propagandized system operates.
The abuse of journalistic integrity caused Censorship crazed Congress to pass the PRESS ACT in the House. The PRESS Act protects journalists from being compelled to disclose any information identifying a source, as well as any records, contents of a communication, documents, or information obtained or created by journalists in the course of their work. It also protects specified third parties, such as telecommunications carriers or social media companies, from being compelled to provide testimony or any document consisting of a record, information, or other communication that is stored by the third party on behalf of a journalist.

in order to protect honest journalists from the power mad CIA tyranny of a demoralized and corrupted Executive Branch we as a nation must hold these truths evident, that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
