Pitfall (1948)

Directed by André De Toth. The story revolves around insurance agent John Forbes, played by Dick Powell, who becomes entangled in a dangerous affair with a seductive model named Mona Stevens, portrayed by Lizabeth Scott. When Mona's jealous ex-con lover, played by Raymond Burr, discovers their relationship, he sets out to torment John and his family, leading to a suspenseful game of cat and mouse.
