GA tax collections now below 2023 after a poor March. The budget office of GA has concerns about the revenue, growth and record spending. Midyear budget, you are alway told that the state constitution requires that we balance the budget. If revenue falls and we don’t meet the budget the taxes are increased. They approved a 36B budget for 2024 beginning in July. giving at least 4% increase for 300K teachers and state employees. And in Feb they signed a midyear budget of $37.9 to run June 30. They do a 2023 budget adjustment if they spend more. And on top of that revenue is down and flat.
