IRGC NAVAL FORCES SEIZED PORTUGUESE-FLAGGED MCS ARIES SHIP @ THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

🇮🇷🇮🇷❌🛥 — Earlier today, April 13, 2024 AD, it was reported by Iranian media that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Forces seized the Portuguese-flagged "MCS ARIES" ship at the Strait of Hormuz

On videos shared on social networks, a IRGC navy special forces helicopter boarded the Portuguese flagged vessel and seized it, exactly as the Iranian state-run media reported.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday that a vessel was seized by "regional authorities" 50 nautical miles (92 km) northeast of the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah.

UKMTO did not say which authorities it was referring to, however the two reports share the same location, and there are no other incidents in the area.

The MCS Aries is partially owned by the Monaco-based Romanian-Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer, the chairman of Ofer Global & Zodiac Maritime Group

The vessel has been redirected into Iranian territorial waters after being seized.
