Edward Newgate, also known as Whitebeard, is a character in One Piece and the former captain of the Whitebeard Pirates. He is one of the Four Emperors, the four most ruthless pirates in history, and is considered the strongest man in the world. Whitebeard has the second-largest bounty of any pirate in history and the highest active bounty at the time of his death. He is also a kind man who has taken in many foster children, including Squard and Teach
