An 85-year-old woman in Idaho defended herself and her disabled son from an intruder, identified as Derek Condon, in a harrowing encounter at her home.

Prosecutors ruled the incident as justifiable homicide, recognizing the woman’s heroic act of self-preservation.

Condon broke into the woman’s home in the early hours of March 13, assaulting her and threatening her with a gun.

Despite being handcuffed, the woman managed to retrieve her .357 Magnum revolver and engage Condon in self-defense, ultimately fatally shooting him. In the exchange of gunfire, the woman sustained multiple injuries but survived, NBC News reported.
