Witnessing to a Roman Catholic

The Gospel of I'm okay you're okay. When I was growing up Roman Catholic I remember my friends and family believing that if you weren't Roman Catholic then you weren't saved. Something happened in recent years where people are preaching that we're all basically okay (protestants and catholics) but historically this is not the case. There is only one Gospel 1:8-9 and we must believe this to be saved.
