ch3-The Discipleship Checklist

Generally speaking, discipleship has to do with instruction and application toward a skilled position like learning a trade through an apprenticeship. The term 'disciple' comes from the word 'discipline' and it makes sense to say that to become an apprentice or disciple requires a certain amount of it.

Therefore, a Christian disciple is one who studies and prepares to become skilled in learning, understanding and applying the Word of God to their life. While learning a skilled trade as an apprentice, there is usually a teacher or guide to follow for examples of application. For the Christian disciple, there are numerous teachers that can be utilised in the same way but discernment must be used as there are both good and bad teachers and examples. In this series, you will learn the foundational steps of discipleship.
