Waleed Daqqa

‘Forty years with the Israeli JACKBOOT on his neck.’

‘Daqqa is considered one of the most prominent writers and thinkers in the Palestinian captive movement.’

‘Four-decade-long struggle in Israeli occupation prisons.’

‘Suffered mistreatment, torture, and, most noticeably, medical treatment.’

British journalist Richard Medhurst reports on legendary Palestinian resistance fighter Waleed Daqqa who was killed by Israel's deliberate medical negligence: a policy inflicted against Palestinian prisoners, hostages, and detainees. Waleed Daqqa served close to 40 years in prison, and should have been released in 1993 as part of the Oslo Accords. Owing to seniority, he should have been released in numerous hostage exchanges including after October 7 but Israelis kept denying him his freedom and appropriate medical care. His family are also being denied the right to bury him.
