Commitment
Luke 9:57-62, 14:25-33 (Matthew 10:37)

To follow Jesus is one of the pre resurrection description of servants of the Lord just like being born again, which is to be redeemed by the blood of Jesus from Satan, sin and death after his resurrection.

This redemption clearly transfer us from the kingdom of darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God. In it, we receive the remission of our sins, setting us free from guilt of sin and it's attendant consequence to stand before God without fear or shame. We now belong to God.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

So, we have freedom from Satan and his instrument of imprisonment, sin, to follow God who released us from the hold of Satan. His commitment to us is without question, unconditional. Romans 8:35-39

What is it?
Commitment is a pledge to a determinate course. In this case, to follow the Lord.

John 12:25-26
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

How does a person hate his own life in this world? He follows the course that God has chosen, in His Son Jesus Christ.

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

What should you commit to?
1. God in His Son Jesus Christ.

2. The plan of God, what God is doing in the world today.
1 Corinthians 15:58, Hebrews 10:34, Revelation 12:11

3. The Church of God - 1 John 3:16

4. Your God Appointed Ministry Gift

5. Family - 1 Corinthians 7:28-35, 1 Timothy 5:8
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own , and specially for those of his own house , he hath denied the faith , and is worse than an infidel.
