A woman attempting to move her broken-down car on a northwest Las Vegas road was struck and killed by another vehicle, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The collision was reported around 6:47 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Ann Road and Tropic Mist Street, just east of Jones Boulevard, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Investigators believe a white Kia Soul was disabled on the westbound side, and a woman was trying to move the car when a group stopped to help her.

At some point, a 2012 Hyundai Veloster heading west on Ann crashed into the rear of the Kia and then the woman, running her over.

Police say the woman, a 58-year-old Henderson resident, died at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 29-year-old Cody Hill, showed signs of impairment, according to LVMPD. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

Jail records indicate Hill is facing a charge of DUI resulting in death, a felony, along with two misdemeanor counts. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
