Multiple Armed Robbery Suspect Shot And Killed By Houston Police Task Force, Bodycam Shows

On March 11, 2024, at approximately 2009 hours, Houston PD officers were assisting a multi-jurisdictional task force surveilling a black SUV. The vehicle was suspected of being used in multiple armed robberies across multiple counties. Officers’ observed the driver of that vehicle, Roosevelt Jamie Overton, Jr. (suspect) commit an aggravated robbery at a liquor store. As the suspect attempted to leave the scene in the black SUV, officers used their vehicles to block his, preventing him from driving away. The suspect exited the SUV and officers gave him commands to show his hands. The suspect fled on foot with a gun in his hand. Officers pursued him, he did not comply. The suspect ran into a bayou tributary still refusing to drop his gun. Officers from multiple agencies discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect. Officers provided first aid, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
