Trash Sewing Machine!! Or is it?

Someone threw out this sewing machine table and nobody picked it up. But i did. Does it work? I don't know how to use a sewing machine but i'm going to figure it out.

This is a Nelco Sewing Machine probably from the late 60s to early 70s made in Japan.
