We met with Shri Shyam Babu Gupta, a senior VHP functionary who resides in Tanda, Ambedkar Nagar district of UP.

Shyam Babu ji's elder brother Sw. Ram Babu Gupta, a Bajrang Dal leader, was murdered in 2013 by goons alleged to be associates of notorious SP MLA Azimulhaq 'Pahalwan'. 6 months later, the witness to this crime and nephew of deceased Ram Mohan Gupta was also murdered. Yet, Shyam Babu ji and the rest of the family didn't flinch, and they are proud at playing a part in giving UP a leader like Yogi Adityanath who has neutered the political-criminal mafias to a great extent.

It is a shame that the sacrifices made by such families for the cause of Hindutva and the nation are scantly known in Hindu samaj - such is the deterioration we have witnessed post independence. Even the new generation of Hindutva activists on social media may not be fully aware of how bad the situation was in UP before the arrival of CM Yogi....it would not be an exaggeration to say that several mini-Pakistans flourished in both Western and Eastern parts of the state....and while the situation is much improved today, we have a long way to go to fully eradicate the radicalization infrastructure, and all institutions of the Republic will have to work together for the same.

In this free-wheeling interview, we talk about how Hindu society can pre-empt hate crimes especially the sexual violence against our girls, the role of non-stop electoral cycles in dividing Hindu society, breakdown of community life even in villages, pernicious impact of Bollywood, providing legal help to victim families, increasing Dharmic awareness and shatrubodh (knowledge of enemy) in Hindu society and role of Dharmic organizations, and a lot more.
