Wojtek's story is one of the most extraordinary tales to emerge from the chaos of World War II. Born in the wilds of Iran, he would go on to become a symbol of friendship, courage, and the indomitable spirit of the human-animal bond.

Wojtek's story begins in 1942 in the rugged terrain of the Zagros Mountains in Iran. It was here that a group of Polish soldiers, displaced by the Nazi invasion of their homeland, stumbled upon an orphaned bear cub. The soldiers, members of the Polish II Corps, were en route to join the Allied forces fighting in North Africa. Seeing the helpless cub, they decided to take him in, naming him Wojtek, which means "joyful warrior" in Polish.....
