GUEST OVERVIEW: Dr Liliya Burrett graduated in medicine from the Ivano-Frankivsk Academy in Ukraine. As a GP under communism her salary was poor and mostly paid in vodka and sugar, which she traded for cash or other essentials. Arriving in England with only £50, she found herself washing up in a Turkish restaurant. Encouraged by consultants, she set about doing her medical exams again.
