Vice Mayor Disparages Declaration

Vice Mayor waxes political against the USA and the Declaration of independence. What she leaves out is that the wider Indian community stood with the British in the war of 1812 against the US. Neither does she mention that the Tribes of this country considered themselves sovereign and did not embrace citizenship until treaties in the 1860's that coincided with the 13th & 14th amendment united the individuals in our great country post slavery. Indians of this country did not abolish slavery until after the civil war's end. Interestingly enough the Tule River Tribe made treaties against slavery a dozen years before the rest of the country which she should know since she mostly represents the tribe in the city in her "lobbyist" role on the council. This seems like a WOKE position and very anti-American. American Indians are a proud patriotic people. Indians are patriots and a very important part of the founding and protection of our country. American Indians resent the term "Native American" because its dismisses real Indian Heritage.
