The amount of gravity has nothing to do with mass.
The amount of mass an object has (in space) is just the end result of piled up matter all spiraling (and being pushed)
In the same direction by currents in space (which behave similarly to currents in oceans). The stronger the current, the more matter will be pushed and concentrated into one place, and therefore the bigger the object.
