Interesting facts about the Winter Palace that you may not have known💬

✅ At the time of completion of construction, the Winter Palace was the tallest building in St. Petersburg, and it was prohibited to build buildings superior to it.

✅The palace was built for Elizabeth Petrovna, but she never had time to visit there, as she died before the completion of construction.

✅ The first exhibitions of the Winter Palace were brought from Germany. Catherine II placed the paintings in remote rooms of the palace, calling these rooms the “Hermitage”.

✅ Alexander Sokurov shot the first film in the history of Russian cinema within the walls of the Winter Palace, the creation of which did not involve editing. The shooting lasted about an hour and a half.
The oldest cinema "Aurora" in St. Petersburg: what's inside?
The cinema opened in 1913 and was originally called Piccadilly. It was designed for 800 seats and at that time was considered the largest in Europe.
In the early 30s of the last century, at the request of the working class, the incomprehensible name was replaced by “Aurora”.
Films were shown here even during the siege. During this period, the best domestic films were shown on the big screen, but with the end of the war, foreign films also appeared at the box office.
⚡️The first water transport sharing in Russia will be launched in St. Petersburg
The St. Petersburg company will launch Russia’s first mobile application for renting water transport by the summer season. Users will be able to rent a boat with or without a captain, pedal boats and grill boats using the application.
The cost of the service will be from 4,000 to 50,000 rubles per hour.
