For many people, it can take years to be accurately diagnosed with a rare disease, as symptoms can be a mystery or confused with those of other, more common conditions. What many may not realize is that the symptoms may be tied to their ancestry. That was the case with Angel’s family, who battled a condition called hereditary ATTR (hATTR) amyloidosis for generations before having a name for the illness. Angel joins us to tell her story, along with Dr. Sami L. Khella to share some of the disease's key signs and symptoms.
