The Affenpinscher is a small dog breed that originated in Germany and was originally bred as a ratter. It has a unique appearance with a wiry coat and monkey-like face. Throughout history, it served as both a rodent hunter and a companion animal to nobility. The breed almost became extinct during World War II but survived thanks to dedicated breeders. Today, Affenpinschers are primarily kept as family pets due to their charming personality traits such as loyalty and protectiveness towards their owners. They stand at 9-11 inches tall, weigh between 6-13 pounds, have rough shaggy coats which come in black, gray, silver or tan colors with expressive dark round eyes and erect triangle ears.
