Bill Mollison - Permaculture - "In Grave Danger of Falling Food" (Documentary 1989)

This is a very important early document of the philosophy behind permaculture.
I've attempted to improve the audio track (removed hiss and boosted high frequencies that were missing from the VHS original)

Someone said "The title is very misleading."

Not at all.
It has a double meaning: see the opening shots of a humanitarian aid food-drop in Africa - that's where the whole world was headed if we didn't pull back from rapacious 'agriculture'. (It still might be..)
The second, more hopeful meaning is that if we actually develop (culturally, spiritually) and understand that producing food in alignment with nature (permaculture) is not only possible but very easy and with low/no cost to the environment, we could literally have food falling from the trees (i.e. an over-abundance, no food-insecurity for any of the world's peoples).
We're in 'grave danger' of falling food - it's our choice which KIND of falling food.

While we allow ourselves, as a species, to be dominated by insatiably greedy men who seek only their own welfare - this permaculture philosophy / system will NEVER have the chance to save the human race.
There's little scope for vast personal/family fortunes (and thus more centuries of 'elite' control)
Personally, I don't see us getting beyond that any time soon - certainly not in our lifetimes.
That's not cynical defeatism - it's just honest realism, looking around at the world these days..
