Military mutiny brewing in Russia - Ukrainian Major-General warns

A military mutiny could break out in Russia. It may arise when the Russian occupants realise that Russian president Vladimir Putin is using them on a roll of the dice.
This opinion was expressed by the former deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Major-General of the Reserve Viktor Yahun, in an interview with Glavred.
He notes that part of the occupation army does not understand what it is doing in the war.
"At a certain point Russian military will realise that they are being used on a roll of the dice. Putin tried to realise similar events in Ukraine, but we have a different situation altogether. The Ukrainian military are conscious, they understand what they are defending and why they are at the front. However, the situation is different among Russians - a certain category of their military, especially the lower ranks, do not understand what they are doing in the war," Yahun said.
According to him, one part of the Russian occupiers came to fight in Ukraine to avoid problems, the second part rejoices with blood, and the third part makes money from the war.
"But the vast majority don't understand at all what this war is about and what the Russians are doing here. They do not understand who and from whom they are liberating when they are not loved here," he noted.
İt should be noted that, Russia is on the verge of turning against Vladimir Putin as the country's economy is running out of ways to fend off crippling Western sanctions, experts have warned.
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the West hit Moscow with brutal sanctions aimed at isolating the country on the world stage.
Putin has managed to minimise the damage to Russia's economy so far by burning through his cash reserves.
But Yales researchers and economists Jeffrey Sonnenfeld and Steven Tian warned the lives of Russian citizens will soon get a lot more difficult.
Tian told Business Insider: "People are living regular lives for now, but it's a completely unsustainable strategy, and the fundamental growth drivers underpinning that economy are deteriorating in front of our eyes. "And if Trump's not elected, then all of that will rise to the surface. The house of cards will come crashing down."
Sergei Guriev, a Russian economist and the incoming Dean of the London Business School, told the same outlet that Russia will be hit with a "deep recession" that could cause social unrest.
He said: "Putin doesn't believe that Russia is doing very well. Putin understands the deficiencies of the statistics, but he needs to convince Russians that everything is fine”.
