Summary
The reading for April 4th is Judges chapters 13 through 15, which introduces Samson and his parents. The Israelites once again did evil in the eyes of Yahweh and were handed over to the Philistines for 40 years. God allows his people to suffer so that they may learn from their sins. Manoah and his wife, who were unable to conceive, are visited by an angel who tells them that their son will save Israel from the Philistines. They pray for guidance on how to raise their son and follow God's instructions. Samson is set apart as a Nazarite and is not to consume alcohol or cut his hair. However, Samson's parents may have idolized him and given him everything he wanted, leading to his foolish choices in relationships. We should learn from Samson's mistakes and have the spiritual strength to fight sin.
