The tragic story of Bridget Cleary, often remembered as the last "witch" burned in Europe, is a haunting tale of folklore, superstition, and a community's descent into hysteria at the dawn of the 20th century in rural Ireland. Bridget, a young woman known for her independence became the centre of a chilling saga in 1895 when she fell ill. Her sickness, rather than being seen through the lens of medical concern, sparked wild speculation and fear among her family and neighbors. Driven by ancient Celtic folklore and the belief that Bridget had been taken by the fairies, leaving a changeling in her place, her husband and several relatives embarked on a series of escalating attempts to "cure" her. As per the Judgement on the 26 April 2022 in the ECJU Case C-401/19, Republic of Poland v European Parliament and Council of the EU: it was noted in that judgement that the interpretation of Article 17(7), second paragraph, requires that member states permit users of online sharing services are authorised to upload and make available content generated by themselves for the specific purposes of quotation, criticism, review, caricature, parody or pastiche.
