A tech entrepreneur and his wife were killed in a plane crash in California on Saturday.

The single-engine TBM aircraft N960LP crashed near Glenshire Drive in Truckee while attempting to land at the Truckee Tahoe Airport just before 6:40 p.m. local time, the airport said in a Facebook post.

Liron Petrushka, 57, was trying to land his single-engine Daher-Socata TBM700N turboprop Saturday evening when, according to airport officials, he crashed after a missed approach. He and Naomi Petrushka, 58, had three sons: David, Scott and Jordan.

As well as being a former soccer player, Liron started a tech company with Naomi and his brother-in-law in 1999, which sold a year later for $242 million, according to the Ynet news site.

In recent years, Liron was involved in various tech initiatives around the world and was a board member for startup companies Chek and UpWest Labs.

UNR communications director Scott Walquist said Naomi Petrushka was an adjunct professor in the economics department from the spring of 2021 to fall 2023.

Naomi and Liron Petrushka, tech investors and entrepreneurs, were identified in a Facebook post by UpWest as having died in the crash.
