Google Agrees to Destroy Millions of Users' "Incognito" Search Data to Settle US Lawsuit
Google has agreed to destroy the browsing data of millions of users to settle a lawsuit in the United States. The lawsuit alleged that Google illegally tracked the private browsing activity of its users even when they were using the "Incognito mode", and collected data on users' hobbies and shopping habits for targeted advertising. The class-action lawsuit, demanding over $5 billion in damages, covers millions of Google users. As part of the settlement, Google will disclose its data tracking practices in "Incognito mode" and block third-party tracking for five years. The settlement awaits final approval from a US court.
